The body of Bangladeshi content creator and actress Karina Kaisar, who died while undergoing treatment in India, will be brought back to Bangladesh on Sunday after necessary preservation and transport formalities are completed in Chennai, her family has confirmed.
Karina’s father, former Bangladesh national football team player Kaisar Hamid, said the family had initially hoped to bring her back on Saturday, but logistical and medical preservation procedures delayed the process. According to him, the family will now return to Dhaka on a Sunday flight from Chennai.
The 30-year-old actress and content creator died late Friday night while receiving treatment at the Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital in Vellore, India. She had been airlifted to Chennai earlier this week after her condition deteriorated in Dhaka.
Family sources said Karina initially suffered from fever and infection complications before being diagnosed with liver failure caused by Hepatitis A and E. She was later admitted to the intensive care unit and placed on life support. Doctors had reportedly begun treatment for complications in her lungs while preparations for a liver transplant were also underway.
Kaisar Hamid said doctors made every possible effort to save his daughter after her blood pressure suddenly dropped during a medical procedure, but she could not be revived.
Karina Kaisar was widely known among young audiences for her lively and relatable social media content before gradually establishing herself in acting and scriptwriting. In recent years, she worked in OTT productions and dramas, earning praise for projects including Internship and 36-24-36.
Her death has triggered an outpouring of grief across Bangladesh’s entertainment industry, with actors, filmmakers, colleagues, and fans sharing tributes and memories on social media. She is survived by her parents and two brothers. Renowned chess player Rani Hamid was her grandmother.
