Jaima Rahman, daughter of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, completed her voter registration in the capital on Saturday. She arrived with her mother, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, at the Election Training Institute in Agargaon at 12:26 p.m., officials said.

Inside, election staff processed the required biometrics, including ten-fingerprint capture and an iris scan, before the motorcade departed the Election Commission complex at 12:44 p.m. The commission first introduced a nationwide photo voter roll in 2007–08. During that period, Tarique Rahman was in prison and, after his 2008 release, left for London for medical treatment, never obtaining a national ID during his long stay abroad. Following political changes in 2024, Dr. Zubaida returned to Bangladesh and subsequently enrolled as a voter.

Saturday’s registration marks the latest step in formalizing voter credentials within the family as Bangladesh’s updated voter rolls continue to be compiled.
