As the week-long art exhibition “Origins of Vision” approaches its grand finale, July 25 marked a vibrant day of cultural exchange and artistic dialogue with a special spotlight on the Japanese Ikebana Festival.
Organized by HerNet Fine Arts in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, the day was celebrated as Cultural Engagement & Artist Day, blending traditional Japanese floral artistry with Bangladesh’s dynamic contemporary art scene.
The day was inaugurated with a powerful and visionary speech by Alisha Pradhan, Curator of the Exhibition and Founder & Secretary General of HerNet Foundation. She highlighted the evolution of HerNet Fine Arts and reiterated the organization’s commitment to cultural diplomacy as a means to build bridges between nations. “Today, as we immerse ourselves in the grace of Ikebana, we also celebrate the universal language of creativity and harmony,” she remarked.

The Chief Guest, Farida Akhter, Advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries, praised the exhibition’s role in enriching Bangladesh’s cultural landscape and underscored the importance of such events in nurturing artistic talent and bilateral friendship.
Joining the celebration were Ambassadors of the Netherlands H.E. Håkon Arald Gulbrandsen & Brunei H.E. Haji Haris bin Othman, reflecting strong diplomatic ties and shared values in promoting intercultural understanding. The Consul of Uruguay also participated as a Special Guest, further adding to the international flavor of the event.
A host of art patrons—including Hasan K Jewel, Sarwar N Chowdhury, and Shafiqul Islam—lent their presence and support, reinforcing the importance of private sector engagement in the arts.
The highlight of the day was the Japanese Ikebana Demonstration, which enthralled the audience with its quiet elegance and philosophical depth. The demonstration offered an immersive experience into Japan’s centuries-old floral art tradition, emphasizing harmony, balance, and minimalism—ideals that deeply resonate with the ethos of “Origins of Vision.”

The day also fostered intergenerational artistic dialogue, featuring reflections from senior artists and patrons, all converging to uphold the role of art as a transformative force in society.
With the Gala Closing Ceremony scheduled for July 26 at 6:00 PM, hosted by the Honorable Ambassador of Japan, the exhibition now stands on the brink of a memorable conclusion—one that will celebrate art, diplomacy, and shared vision on an unprecedented scale.
HerNet Foundation invites all art enthusiasts, media, and cultural stakeholders to join the final day of this landmark exhibition and witness the crescendo of a truly visionary journey.
