After spending nearly four months in London for advanced medical treatment, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is expected to return to Bangladesh on May 5. Her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain confirmed the news, as reported by BBC Bangla. According to Dr. Hossain, Khaleda Zia is scheduled to leave London for Dhaka on May 4, accompanied by her two daughters-in-law — Dr. Zubaida Rahman, wife of her elder son Tarique Rahman, and Syeda Sharmila Rahman, wife of her late younger son Arafat Rahman Coco. Dr. Hossain, who has been attending to her medical needs in London, stated that Khaleda Zia is currently in good physical condition and undergoing final medical assessments, which are expected to be completed by Friday, May 2. The 80-year-old BNP chief, who has been battling multiple health issues, was flown to London on January 8 aboard a special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar. She received treatment for 17 consecutive days at the London Clinic before being shifted to the residence of her son Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of BNP, on January 25. During her stay, Khaleda Zia celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with her family, marking the first time in over six years that she observed the occasion with her loved ones in their London home.
