Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, will travel from Doha to Rome to attend the funeral of the late Pope Francis, according to the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam. Professor Yunus, who is currently on a four-day official visit to Qatar, is scheduled to leave Doha for the Italian capital on Friday.
The funeral of Pope Francis will be held this Saturday in Rome. The press secretary stated that Professor Yunus shared a warm personal relationship with the late Pope and is attending the funeral to pay his final respects to a dear friend.
Aside from participating in the funeral, the Chief Adviser has no other official engagements planned in Rome. He is expected to return to Bangladesh on Sunday.
Pope Francis passed away on Monday at the Vatican at the age of 88. He served as the supreme leader of the Roman Catholic Church for the past 12 years.
