During a recent press briefing in Washington on November 7, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized the United States’ desire to see a greater respect for religious freedom in Bangladesh. Miller highlighted the U.S. expectation for accountability in instances of attacks related to religious intolerance.

Miller stated, “We have spoken with officials in Bangladesh and have made it clear that we expect to see a demonstration of respect for religious freedom.” He further stressed the importance of ensuring that perpetrators of any attacks are held accountable under Bangladeshi law, underscoring a consistent stance by the United States on human rights issues worldwide.
