Yesterday, intermittent rain in Dhaka led to waterlogging on many streets. The Meteorological Department has indicated that due to the influence of the monsoon, a low pressure system could form within the next 24 hours. The forecast also suggests a continued likelihood of rainfall across the country over the next five days.

This morning’s forecast at 9 AM detailed the weather conditions for the upcoming 72 hours, highlighting the active monsoon winds stretching from West Bengal through the central regions of Bangladesh to the northern Bay of Bengal in moderate to severe conditions. This may lead to the formation of a low pressure area along the coast of West Bengal and southwestern Bangladesh within the next 24 hours. Maritime ports have been issued a level 3 warning, and river ports a level 1 warning.

Furthermore, widespread rain with thunderstorms is expected today and tomorrow across most parts of the eight divisions of the country. More specifically, heavy rainfall is anticipated in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet by Monday, with some areas in other divisions also likely to experience showers. Temperatures may rise slightly on Monday.

Over the past 24 hours, the highest recorded rainfall was 72 millimeters in Aricha, Manikganj, as reported by the Meteorological Department.
