BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will visit the grave of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi—the Inqilab Moncho spokesperson and prospective Dhaka-8 candidate who was recently shot dead—after completing a series of tributes and official formalities this week, the party announced.
At a press briefing in Gulshan on Wednesday, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said Rahman is due to return to Bangladesh on Thursday, Dec 25, and will begin public engagements the following day. On Friday (Dec 26), after Jumu’ah prayers, Rahman will pay respects at the grave of former President Ziaur Rahman, then lay a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar.
On Saturday (Dec 27), Rahman will register as a voter, visit July movement casualties undergoing treatment at NITOR (Pangu Hospital) in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, and offer prayers at Hadi’s gravesite, Salahuddin said.
Rahman’s visit to Hadi’s grave comes amid heightened attention to political violence following the activist’s killing in central Dhaka last week. The BNP says the acting chairman’s schedule combines institutional duties, remembrance for fallen leaders and activists, and outreach to those injured during recent unrest.
