The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Rubaba Dowla as head of its Women’s Cricket Department, the board’s only female director taking charge amid ongoing debate around the women’s game. The move was announced Tuesday through a media release outlining a broader reconstitution of BCB’s standing committees.

Dowla, who was nominated as a BCB director by the National Sports Council on November 3, assumes the portfolio previously held by former national spinner Abdur Razzak. Razzak has been made vice-chairman of the same department and additionally appointed chief of the High Performance (HP) Unit.

Former Bangladesh captain Khaled Masud, who had been heading the HP Unit, shifts to become chairman of the Grounds Committee. BCB President Aminul Islam, who earlier oversaw Grounds, will now lead the Working Committee while continuing with the BPL Governing Council.

The reshuffle follows the June 6 BCB elections and a period in which women’s cricket has been at the center of scrutiny. Board officials framed the changes as part of a routine refresh of the BCB’s 23 standing committees, aimed at streamlining responsibilities ahead of the next domestic and international cycles.
