The Bagatipara Upazila Health Complex in Natore has undergone a remarkable transformation under the leadership of its newly appointed Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Dr. Suchona Monohora. Since joining on March 20, 2025, Dr. Suchona has brought significant changes to both the infrastructure and the healthcare services of the hospital, earning widespread praise from staff and patients alike.

Upon taking charge, Dr. Suchona began by personally visiting each department, engaging directly with doctors, nurses, and staff members to understand the hospital’s challenges and potential. With collective input, she initiated a range of development activities aimed at rejuvenating the facility and restoring public trust in the healthcare system.

Previously cluttered and neglected areas at the hospital entrance have been transformed into green spaces adorned with medicinal plants, flowering shrubs, and fruit-bearing trees. Her emphasis on cleanliness and aesthetics has not only improved the visual appeal of the hospital but also created a more healing environment for patients.

To enhance security, she installed CCTV cameras across the premises. Recognizing the urgent need for maternal health improvements, Dr. Suchona introduced a 24/7 delivery hotline to provide timely care and guidance for expecting mothers. The labor room has also been upgraded with modern amenities, including air conditioning and privacy curtains, making it more comfortable for patients.

In the laboratory, she facilitated the installation of new advanced diagnostic equipment, improving the accuracy and efficiency of medical tests. Furthermore, a dedicated conference room has been set up for meetings and training, fostering a culture of communication and continued learning among hospital staff.

Despite her administrative duties, Dr. Suchona sees patients regularly, ensuring that healthcare delivery remains patient-focused. Locals have expressed their appreciation for the improved quality of care and the more responsive environment. One patient shared, “This hospital is no longer what it used to be. Since the new doctor arrived, everything has changed. We’re receiving better treatment than before.”

Her colleagues echo this sentiment, describing her as a person of integrity, taste, and tireless dedication. “Dr. Suchona works closely with us and leads by example. She truly cares about this hospital and the people it serves,” said one staff member.

Speaking about her vision, Dr. Suchona stated, “I want to restore people’s faith in the healthcare system. We may not have all the resources at the upazila level, but with what we do have, we can still provide quality treatment and trustworthy advice. That’s what I’m committed to.”

Under her stewardship, the Bagatipara Health Complex has become a model of grassroots healthcare transformation, proving that leadership, empathy, and commitment can bring lasting change even within limited means.
