UN Secretary-General Visits Cox’s Bazar with Chief Adviser

Cox’s Bazar: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, arrived in Cox’s Bazar to visit the Rohingya refugee camps.

On Friday, March 14, at 12:48 PM, a chartered flight carrying Professor Yunus and Guterres landed at Cox’s Bazar Airport. Adviser Faruq-e-Azam, who oversees the Ministry of Disaster Management, welcomed them upon arrival.

As part of the visit, Chief Adviser Professor Yunus is set to inaugurate a project at Cox’s Bazar Airport and inspect the Khurushkul Climate Refugee Center. Following these engagements, Professor Yunus and Secretary-General Guterres will join an iftar gathering in Ukhiya with nearly 100,000 Rohingya refugees.

Meanwhile, Guterres will head directly to Ukhiya upon arrival. His itinerary includes visits to the Rohingya Learning Center, the Rohingya Cultural Center, and a jute-based product manufacturing facility. After completing the inspections and participating in the iftar, both the Chief Adviser and the UN Secretary-General will return to Dhaka together in the evening.
