Decisive Measures Agreed Upon in High-Level Security Meeting with Bangladesh’s Military and Police Chiefs

In response to escalating unrest across the country, Bangladesh’s top military and law enforcement leaders convened at the Army Headquarters to discuss and devise a strategy to restore order. This critical meeting, chaired by the Army Chief General Wakar-Uz-Zaman, included the Navy and Air Force chiefs, the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, the Director General of RAB, and the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner. The leaders assessed the current security challenges and the effectiveness of ongoing measures in the wake of recent political turmoil.

The discussions led to a unanimous decision to implement more robust and coordinated actions to ensure national stability. It was agreed that the military would provide logistical and strategic support to enhance police efforts in controlling the situation. This move is part of a broader effort to reinforce law enforcement capabilities to deal effectively with riots, vandalism, and other forms of civil disorder that have surged since the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

To communicate their resolution and the actions decided upon, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement outlining the outcomes of the meeting. The statement emphasized a collective commitment to stringent measures aimed at curbing the violence and ensuring public safety. The military and police forces are set to increase their visibility and engagement across key hotspots in an effort to restore peace and enforce law and order, reflecting a significant step towards managing the crisis.
