India attaches great importance to its existing military and strategic relations with Bangladesh, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made the remarks on Wednesday during a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister\u2019s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd.) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at the Armed Forces Division office in Dhaka Cantonment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), the two officials exchanged greetings at the beginning of the meeting before discussing a range of issues related to defence, security and bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discussions placed particular emphasis on strengthening cooperation between the armed forces of the two neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the key areas discussed were joint training programmes to enhance the professional capabilities of Bangladesh’s armed forces, exchanges of experience and training between military officers, disaster management, regional peace and maritime security<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner also praised various initiatives undertaken by the Bangladesh government in the socioeconomic sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trivedi reiterated India’s strong commitment to maintaining and further developing military and strategic cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He also reaffirmed India’s continued willingness to work with Bangladesh on enhancing the professional cooperation and capabilities of their respective armed forces, as well as on areas involving shared security interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The meeting also underscored the importance of further strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and maintaining regional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Both sides expressed their commitment to working together to address common global challenges and to expanding cooperation between Bangladesh and India in areas of mutual interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The meeting comes amid continued efforts by the two neighbouring countries to maintain and strengthen institutional cooperation, particularly in defence, security, disaster response and regional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With Bangladesh and India sharing a long border and facing a number of common regional and transnational challenges, officials from both countries have increasingly highlighted the importance of dialogue, professional exchanges and coordinated efforts to promote peace and security in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" India attaches great importance to its existing military and strategic relations with Bangladesh, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has said.
