The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled a local party leader following allegations that he was involved in an attack at a government college in Rajshahi, where a female teacher was assaulted and the campus was vandalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision was announced on Friday afternoon in a press release posted on the verified Facebook page of the BNP Media Cell. The statement, signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi<\/strong>, said Akbar Ali<\/strong>, vice president of Joynagar Union BNP in Durgapur upazila, had been removed from his primary membership and all party posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the statement, Akbar Ali was expelled over clear allegations of activities that go against the party\u2019s principles, ideals, and discipline. The party said the incident involved vandalism inside Daokandi Government College<\/strong> and inappropriate conduct toward a female teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The incident took place on Thursday at the college, located in Joynagar Union of Durgapur upazila, during degree-level examinations. Reports say a group entered the campus in violation of Section 144 restrictions and carried out the attack. Local BNP leaders and activists have been accused of involvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The college principal, Abdur Razzaq<\/strong>, was injured in the incident and received treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
