The High Commission of India in Dhaka, together with the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), marked the 77th anniversary of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on Friday by celebrating \u201cICCR Day\u201d at the IGCC premises in Gulshan, highlighting the long-standing cultural ties between India and Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u0985\u09a8\u09c1\u09b7\u09cd\u09a0\u09be\u09a8\u09c7 featured an art camp involving ICCR alumni and senior Bangladeshi artists, alongside a cultural program of music, dance, and yoga performances by IGCC students and ICCR alumni from Bangladesh. Acclaimed singer and ICCR scholar Priyanka Gope<\/strong> of Dhaka University delivered a special performance of Rabindra Sangeet and classical songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speaking at the event, Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma<\/strong> emphasized the deep cultural affinity between the two neighboring countries, describing it as a key source of strength in bilateral relations. He said ICCR has played an important role in promoting vibrant cultural dialogue and called it the \u201ccultural heartbeat\u201d of Indian diplomacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the occasion, the High Commissioner also inaugurated a two-day art camp titled \u201cSampriti,\u201d<\/strong> hosted by IGCC. The camp brought together more than 30 noted Bangladeshi artists and ICCR scholars, including Farida Zaman, Jamal Ahmed, Md. Eunus, Nissar Hossain,<\/strong> and Ranjit Das<\/strong>. The artworks created during the camp are set to be showcased in a two-week public exhibition at IGCC beginning on April 30<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The event also included a tribute to senior Bangladeshi artist and ICCR scholar Tarun Ghosh<\/strong>, who had been invited to join the \u201cSampriti\u201d art camp but passed away on April 9.
