{"id":7172,"date":"2026-01-30T12:17:19","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T12:17:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hernet.news\/?p=7172"},"modified":"2026-01-30T12:17:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T12:17:19","slug":"u-s-rider-crosses-australia-on-brumby-fable-completing-4400-km-coast-to-coast-trek","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hernet.news\/?p=7172","title":{"rendered":"U.S. rider crosses Australia on brumby \u2018Fable,\u2019 completing 4,400 km coast-to-coast trek"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">American horsewoman <strong>Jean Jagola<\/strong>, 25, has completed an eight-month, 4,400-kilometre journey across Australia on the back of <strong>Fable<\/strong>, a once-wild brumby she adopted and trained, riding from the nation\u2019s east to its west.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jagola set out on <strong>May 20, 2025<\/strong> from <strong>Tathra<\/strong> on New South Wales\u2019 South Coast, tracing the shoreline through <strong>Victoria<\/strong> and <strong>South Australia<\/strong> before tackling the treeless <strong>Nullarbor Plain<\/strong> and finishing near <strong>Perth<\/strong>, at <strong>Forest Beach in Busselton<\/strong>, about 200 kilometres south of the Western Australian capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prioritising the horse\u2019s welfare, Jagola said she capped travel at about <strong>32 km per day<\/strong>, dismounted for <strong>10-minute rests each hour<\/strong>, and <strong>walked roughly a quarter of each day<\/strong> to ease Fable\u2019s workload. Nights were spent camped beside the horse with a tent and saddle mat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fable, originally a <strong>Kosciuszko National Park<\/strong> brumby, was adopted via the <strong>Victorian Brumby Association<\/strong>. Jagola planned the expedition for <strong>six to eight months<\/strong>, then gave Fable <strong>three months of training<\/strong> before departure.
