Bangladesh will not participate in the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup after cricket\u2019s global body declined Dhaka\u2019s request to move the team\u2019s fixtures out of India, Youth and Sports Adviser Prof. Asif Nazrul said on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to reporters at the InterContinental Hotel following a meeting with national players, Nazrul said there is \u201cno scope\u201d to reverse the government\u2019s decision not to travel to India due to security concerns. \u201cThe risk environment has not changed,\u201d he noted, adding that the decision stemmed from \u201ca real incident,\u201d and alleging that \u201cone of our best players was effectively pushed out of India after extremists were appeased\u201d\u2014a reference he linked to the controversy surrounding left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman. He did not disclose details of his discussion with the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam, speaking separately, said the board would \u201ckeep trying\u201d to find a solution that enables participation. \u201cWe are not giving up. We want to play the World Cup. We just don\u2019t want to go to India right now\u2014we want to play in Sri Lanka,\u201d he said, stressing the team remains prepared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The comments followed an ICC meeting that, according to the BCB, gave Bangladesh 24 hours to consult the government on its stance. With the venue-switch plea denied and Dhaka holding firm, Bangladesh\u2019s withdrawal from this edition now appears definitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
