Chanting \u201cNo compromise, revolution,\u201d \u201cWe are all Hadi,\u201d and \u201cWe want justice,\u201d demonstrators vowed to remain on the streets until suspects are detained and charged. \u201cThis blockade is on, and it will continue. We won\u2019t leave without justice,\u201d said Abdullah Al Jaber, the group\u2019s member-secretary. He framed the mobilisation as part of Hadi\u2019s \u201cfight against cultural hegemony\u201d and a broader struggle to safeguard \u201cindependence and sovereignty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hadi, a prominent face of the July people\u2019s uprising and a prospective independent candidate for Dhaka-8, was shot in the head by assailants on a motorcycle on December 12 while riding a rickshaw on Purana Paltan\u2019s Box Culvert Road. Transferred to Singapore for treatment, he died on December 18. A large funeral prayer was held on Manik Mia Avenue, and he was buried beside the mausoleum of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam near the Dhaka University central mosque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
