During an international peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, U.S. President Donald Trump unexpectedly praised Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as a “beautiful woman.” The comment came on Monday, October 13, 2025, while Trump was delivering a speech alongside over 20 world leaders gathered to discuss a plan to end the Gaza conflict.

Meloni, 48, was the only female head of government present at the summit. While speaking about efforts to restore peace in the Middle East, Trump turned toward Meloni and remarked, “In the U.S., if you call a woman beautiful, your political career might be over. But I’m willing to take the risk.”

He then looked at Meloni directly and added, “If I tell you you’re beautiful, you wouldn’t be offended, right? Because you are.” The Italian prime minister was seen smiling and nodding in response.

Trump also described Meloni as an “exceptional” leader, praising her political success and popularity in Italy.

The summit concluded with Trump and other world leaders signing a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. However, no further details of the agreement were immediately made public.
