The third day of the prestigious week-long art exhibition \u201cOrigins of Vision\u201d<\/strong>, held at the Embassy of Japan in collaboration with HerNet Fine Arts<\/strong>, brought with it a moment of rare serenity, cultural beauty, and intellectual exchange through the Japanese Tea Ceremony<\/strong>\u2014a symbolic gesture of peace, discipline, and spiritual depth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presented with meticulous grace by the Embassy of Japan<\/strong>, the tea ceremony served as today\u2019s central attraction, drawing a distinguished crowd of diplomats, artists, cultural thinkers, and the broader creative community. The ceremony was not only a demonstration of Japan\u2019s timeless tradition but also a bridge of cultural understanding, echoing the broader vision of the exhibition itself\u2014to unite nations, generations, and identities through art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day\u2019s Chief Guest<\/strong>, His Eminence Archbishop Kevin S. Randall of Vatican City<\/strong>, brought a unique spiritual and interfaith presence to the event. In his address, Archbishop Randall praised the symbolic power of art and cultural exchange as vehicles for peace and compassion. \u201cArt,\u201d he remarked, \u201cis one of humanity\u2019s most divine expressions\u2014capable of healing what politics cannot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining him as Special Guests<\/strong> were two leading figures from Bangladesh\u2019s creative community: artist Abdus Satter<\/strong>, revered for his contribution to abstract expressionism in South Asia, and fashion designer Mahin Khan<\/strong>, a pioneer of modern Bangladeshi couture and cultural fashion storytelling. Both emphasized the significance of the exhibition in bringing together the past and future, tradition and innovation, East and West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day was further elevated by a heartfelt and visionary speech by Alisha Pradhan<\/strong>, Curator of the Exhibition<\/strong> and Founder & Secretary General of HerNet Foundation<\/strong>. In her remarks, she revisited the founding principles of HerNet Fine Arts<\/strong>\u2014launched in 2024 as the creative wing of HerNet Foundation\u2014and its commitment to expanding the global footprint of Bangladeshi art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alisha emphasized three key initiatives underway:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. The development of Bangladesh\u2019s largest digital Art Data Center<\/strong>, aimed at archiving and promoting Bangladeshi visual arts globally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The launch of a Privileged Artist Card<\/strong>, a pioneering membership-based model to support artists with benefits such as curated exhibitions, international exposure, and institutional partnerships.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The continued internationalization of Bangladeshi art<\/strong> through exhibitions like \u201cOrigins of Vision,\u201d which seamlessly integrates global diplomacy with local creativity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Following her speech, she personally led a guided tour<\/strong> of the exhibition for the attending guests, providing insight into the curated works of 47 celebrated and emerging artists<\/strong> featured in the exhibition. A special focus was given to the first-ever tribute by a private organization<\/strong> to the founding luminaries of Bangladeshi art<\/strong>\u2014a historic gesture that includes rare homages to Zainul Abedin, SM Sultan, Novera Ahmed, Mohammad Kibria, Rashid Choudhury, Quamrul Hassan<\/strong>, and Safiuddin Ahmed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As the afternoon progressed, guests were treated to a video documentary<\/strong> showcasing the journey of HerNet Fine Arts. The documentary traced the platform\u2019s evolution from grassroots activism to a national and international player in cultural diplomacy.     • The largest art camp in Bangladesh\u2019s history<\/strong> at Le M\u00e9ridien Dhaka (Dec 2024)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Flavorful Bangladesh<\/strong>\u2014a 10-day curated exhibition and cultural celebration at InterContinental Dhaka<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Campus engagements such as Harmony on Canvas<\/strong> at North South University<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The Artistic Soir\u00e9e<\/strong> where the vision for Bangladesh\u2019s first Art Data Centre was unveiled<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      The day ended with lively conversation among guests, sharing reflections on the connections between art, tradition, and global citizenship. Many noted how the Japanese Tea Ceremony\u2014delicate yet deeply ritualistic\u2014provided a philosophical counterbalance to the visual power of the exhibition itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      With several more thematic days to follow, including a Diplomatic Dialogue on Art & Cultural Policy<\/strong> and a Youth Engagement Day<\/strong>, \u201cOrigins of Vision\u201d<\/em> continues to establish itself not just as an exhibition, but as a cultural movement<\/strong>. It is one of the most impactful collaborations between a foreign mission and a private Bangladeshi institution in recent memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
