A nine-point demand was put forward, including the resignation of Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury for failing to prevent crimes against women, stricter legal actions against perpetrators, the formation of special tribunals for rape cases, and the amendment of laws based on expert recommendations. Protestors also called for institutional reforms to prevent sexual harassment, immediate filing of rape cases without bureaucratic delays, and the implementation of witness protection laws. Additionally, they demanded an independent anti-sexual violence committee within all educational institutions and justice for recent incidents at Chittagong University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Writer Nigar Sultana stated that the sticks symbolized their defiance against oppression and their demand for a safer environment for women and children. She emphasized the need for swift but fair trials to deter potential offenders.
