These rules cover various aspects, including travel, baggage weight limits, and restrictions on bringing family members or friends on tours. In a continuation of this stricter approach, BCCI has also enforced new guidelines for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), significantly affecting teams and players.

One of the most notable changes is the prohibition of players’ wives and girlfriends from accessing the dressing rooms. Only accredited personnel will be allowed in the dressing rooms and on the field during practice sessions. Family members and friends accompanying players must travel separately and can only watch practice from hospitality boxes. Additionally, players must use the team bus for transport to practice sessions, with teams permitted to split into two groups for travel.

On practice days, each team will be allocated two nets and a side wicket, while venues in Mumbai will allow two additional wickets if both teams practice simultaneously. No team will have access to open nets, and if a team finishes practice early, the pitch cannot be used by another team. No practice will be allowed on match days, and teams are prohibited from conducting fitness tests on the main field before matches.

BCCI has also implemented match-day regulations to maintain discipline. All accredited staff must carry their identification cards, with initial violations resulting in warnings and repeated offenses leading to financial penalties. Players have been urged to avoid hitting LED boards during practice, and support staff will not be allowed to sit in front of LED screens. The twelfth man’s seating position, along with towel and water bottle arrangements, will be designated by sponsors.

To maintain uniformity, players must wear designated orange and purple caps, with those failing to comply required to wear them for at least the first two overs. Additionally, strict dress codes will be enforced during post-match award ceremonies, prohibiting slippers and sleeveless jerseys. First-time violations will result in warnings, while repeated breaches will lead to fines.

BCCI has further limited the number of support staff allowed on match days to twelve, including the team doctor. These new rules aim to enhance professionalism, improve discipline, and ensure a smooth IPL 2025, set to begin on March 22.

Following consecutive Test series defeats against New Zealand and Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced new regulations for centrally contracted players.
