For the first time, Bangladesh will produce unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, intended for both commercial use and export. The initiative is led by Sky Biz Limited, a Bangladeshi company, which will carry out manufacturing in the BEPZA economic zone in Mirsarai, Chattogram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The venture marks Bangladesh’s initial foray into the UAV manufacturing industry with an investment slated at approximately $46 million. Sky Biz Limited plans to roll out 10 different drone models, with production of the first two models expected to begin by January next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These drones will cater to various service sectors including firefighting, cinematography, mapping, surveillance, and agricultural applications such as pesticide spraying. The company projects an annual export value of around $169 million once the factory is fully operational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sky Biz Limited, under the leadership of Managing Director Jasim Ahmed, aims to showcase the potential of locally produced high-tech drones on the international market, with a significant portion of the components currently being imported. The company also plans to gradually transition to local production of these components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
