The interim government, led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has also expressed its commitment to resolving the issue. Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has voiced concern over the escalating violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Three Killed in Khagrachari<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The unrest began after a local man, Md. Mamun, was lynched in Khagrachari on Wednesday. This sparked further violence, leading to the shooting deaths of three people and injuries to nine others. The deceased\u2014Junon Chakma (22), Dhan Ranjan Chakma (50), and Rubel Tripura (24)\u2014were pronounced dead at Khagrachari District Hospital. Among the injured, four were transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To control the situation, the Khagrachari administration imposed a curfew from 2 PM to 9 PM on Friday. Local authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner and security forces, urged residents to remain calm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>One Dead and Dozens Injured in Rangamati<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the violence in Khagrachari, protests erupted in Rangamati, leading to further clashes. An individual was killed, and 58 others were injured in the melee. Following the violence, the local administration imposed Section 144 in the town and increased security patrols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tensions escalated after a large protest march was held in Rangamati on Friday morning. A group of protesters threw stones, leading to widespread vandalism of shops and nearby buildings, including the Bonrupa Jame Mosque. In retaliation, a group of Bengali settlers launched counterattacks, resulting in significant property damage, including the burning of vehicles and shops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The situation prompted local leaders and military personnel to visit affected areas, promising to investigate the violence and bring those responsible to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Protests Spread to Bandarban<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students and activists in Bandarban also held protests in solidarity with the victims of the violence in Khagrachari and Rangamati. Demonstrators called for justice and demanded the withdrawal of military forces from the hill tracts, alleging that the region had been turned into an &#8220;internal colony&#8221; of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As tensions continue to rise, various groups, including indigenous student associations, have announced further protests, including a 72-hour road and waterway blockade in the Chittagong Hill Tracts starting today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Government Response<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has increased security measures across the hill districts to prevent further violence.
