The International Conference on Food Justice from a Human Rights Perspective, held at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Doha on February 6-7, 2024, emerged as a pivotal event under the generous patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. This groundbreaking conference, orchestrated by the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar in collaboration with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, and the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), highlighted the urgency of a human rights-based approach to food justice. With over 600 participants, including human rights experts, UN Special Rapporteurs, academics, policy makers, and activists, the conference aimed to forge pathways toward realizing the right to food, especially in the Middle East and North Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the distinguished attendees, Alisha Pradhan, the founder and CEO of HerNet TV and HerNet Foundation, stood out with her compelling speech on the role of her organization in advocating for women, children, and the underprivileged communities.
