Organized by the HerNet Foundation and supported by the European Union Delegation to Bangladesh, the event brought together a diverse group of students, thought leaders, and industry experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Artificial Intelligence as a Key Focus<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion highlighted the increasing relevance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in today&#8217;s world. Participants acknowledged AI&#8217;s potential in transforming various sectors, especially agriculture, by enhancing power supply and production efficiency. The consensus was clear: AI, if utilized responsibly, could be a game-changer for Bangladesh&#8217;s youth, offering innovative solutions to both urban and rural challenges. This sentiment aligns with the national ambition of realizing a &#8216;Smart Bangladesh&#8217;, where technology serves as a cornerstone for development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotlight on Women&#8217;s Empowerment in the Workforce<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A poignant part of the discourse was the emphasis on women&#8217;s empowerment, particularly in the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector. Zeba Mahin from the Department of Law at Dhaka University stressed the importance of supporting working mothers. She argued for the necessity of childcare facilities and educational provisions within the RMG industry, pointing out that such initiatives could help maintain employment and uphold social dignity for young mothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Echoing these concerns, Sayma Islam from the Department of Criminology delved into the issue of women&#8217;s underrepresentation in leadership roles within the corporate sector. She called for a paradigm shift in hiring practices, advocating for &#8216;Blind hiring&#8217; to eliminate gender bias and promote equality in leadership opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EU-Bangladesh Relations and Youth Engagement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EU Ambassador to Bangladesh, Charles Whiteley&#8217;s presence added a significant international dimension to the discussions. He emphasized the EU&#8217;s commitment to supporting Bangladesh&#8217;s youth, particularly through educational initiatives like the Erasmus program. The Ambassador highlighted the benefits of this program, which facilitates Bangladeshi students&#8217; access to higher education in Europe.
